It’s insane to build a $150 million recruiting facility, pay your head coach $10 million, the rest of your staff $20 million cumulative, but then say there’s not enough money to help the players.
College sports should be a springboard helping athletes succeed in any career they choose.
But today unfair NCAA rules block career opportunities and prevent college athletes from earning pay for work related to their athletic talent. These barriers are particularly onerous for low-income athletes who lack family financial support.
It’s time to change the rules and open more opportunities for college athletes to realize their lifelong potential while preserving what’s great about college sports.
The Challenge
College sports is a $19 billion industry, but the athletes who fuel this revenue receive no pay from their schools or for endorsements, appearances, or other sports-related jobs.
We seek reforms that expand opportunity for all college athletes.
Who We Are
Fans for Fair Play is a nonprofit advocacy group founded to promote fair pay and long-term success for college athletes.
We are a coalition of sports fans who believe reforming college athlete compensation is essential to preserve all that’s great about college sports and ensure athletes are treated fairly for their hard work and sacrifice.
